Serving Houston, Pearland, Sugar Land and Friendswood
Deciding to have plastic surgery is a big step and one that probably took a great deal of thought and research on your part. If you have committed to having plastic surgery or are still in the process of deciding if plastic surgery is right for you, maybe we can help. Houston Plastic Surgeon Dr. Lapuerta and his highly trained and professional staff have been performing cosmetic surgery procedures on the face and body for many years, and we encourage you to read a great deal about the procedure you are seeking. Then, we'd like you to come to our Houston area office to have all your questions answered and your fears put to rest.
The two parts of the body that tend to show the signs of aging first are the face and neck. For this reason, facelifts and neck lifts are quickly becoming two very popular cosmetic surgery procedures sought by both men and women.
A neck lift is actually a set of procedures performed to enhance the appearance of your neck.
- Platysmaplasty removes or alters the muscles of the neck
- Cervicoplasty is the removal of excess skin
What is it and why get it?
Typically, the neck lift procedure will last two to three hours, but if you are having the neck lift performed in conjunction with another procedure such as liposuction or a facelift, the time necessary will be longer. Your exact procedure will, of course, depend on your desired results and your unique circumstances. In order to get a neck lift, you must be in good overall health, both physically and mentally.
The most common problems faced by patients seeking a neck lift are:
- Excess fat
- Too much loose skin
After a thorough examination and evaluation, Dr. Lapuerta will explain which procedure or combination of procedures is best for what you're trying to achieve. Once the decision to have a neck lift is made, you will be instructed on what to do and what not to do prior to your surgery. If you are having platysmaplasty, cervicoplasty, or any combination of procedures, you should plan on having a home recovery area set up before you undergo the surgery. You will want to have ice packs, gauze and towels, loose clothing, antibacterial ointment, and a telephone within reach. We suggest you have someone stay with you for at least the first 24 hours following neck lift surgery.
If you would like to learn more about what is involved with a neck lift and would like to find out if you are a candidate for this procedure, please contact our plastic surgery office in Pearland today to schedule your initial consultation.
