A facelift is the most effective procedure for removing loose skin and eliminating wrinkles from the facial area. While some alternative treatments, like BOTOX®, work to eliminate fine lines, the facelift is the only effective procedure for removing deep facial lines. Facelift's effectiveness is evident through the large number of plastic surgery patients who choose the procedure.

During a facelift, Dr. Lapuerta makes incisions in inconspicuous areas to separate the skin from the underlying facial muscles. If necessary, he then tightens some of the facial muscles. Afterward, the skin is redraped and tightened over the muscle.

The best facelift candidates have loose or sagging skin, and very defined bone structure. Patients with less defined faces may choose to add other procedures to a facelift, like facial implants. Other criteria for good facelift candidates include good general health, lack of underlying complications, and evidence of healthy lifestyle choices.

Occasionally, patients combine facelift with procedures like an eyelid or forehead lift. Depending on your needs, Dr. Lapuerta may recommend a facelift combined with other skins treatments.
